With no outlet of semi-pro or professional soccer nearby, Chris began work on creating a local community soccer team for Tallahassee and the surrounding area in the summer of 2017. A life-long soccer fan, he has played since the age of 4, coached youth teams in South Florida, played with the local Tallahassee Soccer Association, and followed the national team to games across the country. This endeavor, from dream to reality, was the perfect intersection of love for the game and admiration for the place he calls home. What began in 2017 continues to build in 2020 through the hard work of so many committed supporters. In addition to running Tallahassee Soccer Club with his trusted board, Chris works for the superintendent of Leon County Schools as an advisor and manager of communications. He is husband to Raquel and dad to Matthew, with a newborn on the way just in time for the 2020 season!
Sean was born and raised in Tallahassee and a graduate of Florida State University with a Sports Management degree. After college he worked for the Florida Marlins and Atlanta Braves of the MLB, Atlanta Hawks of the NBA, and the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL. After years of experience in ticketing operations in professional sports he moved back home to Tallahassee and is excited to take on the same role for the TLHSC.
Raquel is the self-proclaimed “soccer widow” who came to the board ready to tackle event planning and logistics. Her background in marketing, communications, membership management, and events has come in handy- she runs game-day logistics, helped get membership off the ground our inaugural year, and runs our merchandising thanks to her super-mom crew, Allie and Ryan. She knows all too well that running the club is a family affair and a community-wide labor of love. She is married to the mad man whose vision created the club, Chris Petley, and together they raise the unofficial Battle Lion mini-mascot, Matthew. In her day job, Raquel works as a Senior Account Manager at BowStern Marketing Communications with both local and national clients.
Giavona packs so much into everything she does that she goes by one letter — G. She loves soccer and is honored to be a TLHSC Founding Board Member and currently serves as our Marketing/Brand Director. She enjoys playing co-ed soccer in a few local leagues and is the owner of Grova Creative, an advertising agency based in Tallahassee, Florida.
